“It’s a unique quality to master and many artists have failed miserably in trying but last night Tom Chaplin showed just how to sing and dance – and not miss a single note.
From the moment Keane took to the stage with Put It Behind You, the packed audience was bouncing and singing along to anthem after anthem for the next 90 minutes.
Tom – in his almost Gollum-style crouched way – covered every inch of the stage including two raised platforms each side, the calmly informed us he was “petrified of heights”.
He played the audience superbly and after labelling us one of the most “raucous, crazy crowds in the entire world” he was always on to a winner with fans at his mercy!
The high-energy trio belted out hits from both of their albums, including Everybody’s Changing, is It Any Wonder and an acoustic version of Your Eyes open and tom spoke openly about the troubled times in the past when the future of the band was threatened due to his addiction problems.
In fact, sometimes he went on a little bit too much about it, although, in fairness it was probably a chance to catch his breath.
The show was rounded up in style with Crystal Ball and Bedshaped and to the delight of his CIA audience, Tom promised to be back very soon.”
